Jason Evert has an amazing ability to connect with teens in such a positive way regarding chastity. He does not tell teens what to give up. . .he offers them the opportunity to accept the gift of a chaste lifestyle with all that the lifestyle has to offer.
He is the kind of guy that can reach straight into a teen’s heart. He answers questions such as:
How do I find love?
How do I know when it’s love?
What if we really love each other?
How can it be wrong if no one gets hurt?
What if I’m not a virgin?
Can God forgive you if you’ve already had sex?
How do I say “no”?
How do I avoid mistakes in the future?
What do I do now?
And he’s not afraid to tackle the really tough ones with compassion, understanding, and yet complete fidelity to Church teaching:
What about safe sex?
Is homosexuality a sin?
If we aren’t going to have sex, how far is too far?
Isn’t everybody doing it?
Who would want to save sex for marriage?
If you are a teen looking for straight answers or a parent looking for a way to address these issues with your teen, then I highly recommend this easy-to-read, 35 page booklet!

“Pure Love” is an extremely accessible and informative booklet that provides brief answers to any teenager (or adult) who wonders why and how to maintain sexual purity. It is an excellent resource for any Catholic looking for simple but persuasive arguments in favor of chastity.

This booklet is a great read to have. However, this is aimed towards teenagers who still have their virginity.
For virgins: This booklet will shed light upon the wonders and glorious gifts that God has bestowed upon us with our bodies and intimacies with one another. You will truly have a whole new outlook on sex, courting, and how to express love.
For non-virgins: There are some pages that discuss how one can ‘re-wrap’ their gift and begin to abstain for their wife or husband.
For both: I would recommend getting this booklet along with Evert’s other book “If you really loved me…”. Both of these go hand in hand and really bring up good topics that this modern world (with all these advertisings with the philosophy “sex sells”) really need to look at.

I read Jason Evert’s book ”If You Really Loved Me,” which includes all the questions in this much shorter publication. It’s not that ”Pure Love” is a summary or has only the important questions, ”If You Really Loved Me” is just more detailed. Anyway, ”Pure Love” answers the more common questions, and it does a good job of it.

I recently purchased the DVD called “Romance Without Regret” in which Jason Evert and Crystalina Evert talk about chastity to high school students. I received the book with the purchase of the DVD. I showed the video to one my 13 year old nephew and then gave him 5 questions to answer to make sure he would pay attention to the video as much as possible. He got them all correct! Upon passing the written test, I had promised him that if he would score a perfect 10 that he would receive a ticket to the movies and a copy of the book “Pure Love”. I truly think that it is never to early to start teaching our children about the true meaning of LOVE between a MAN and a WOMAN. This book is a perfect start.

Buying “Sex, Love and You: Making the Right Decision” is making the right decision for those who want to know why they should keep themselves pure for their future wife or husband. My wife was hooked reading the introduction and read the book straight through. We’ll be using it with our kids. I’m amazed a book this good on this subject isn’t better known. If you are familiar with Tom Lickona’s “character” books you’ll know what a reservoir of wisdom he is. Same thing with this book which is well written, full of interesting stories and comments from kids who have been there, and completely free of hype.

Most teenagers, Catholic or not, will not get into books such as this and the simlar Sex and the Teenager book from the same publisher. The reason is that these moralistic books are irrelevant to the reality that most teenagers have and enjoy a variety of sex acts. This book is unhealthy and irresponsible in its message. Sex is part of all of us. We need to embrace it with commonsense, not see it as something to wait for.
